Imran Khan escaped an attempt on his life yesterday as a gunman resorted to firing at the PTI chief’s container when his convoy reached Wazirabad’s Allah Wala Chowk. Imran Khan and PTI leaders among 14 others were injured in the gun attack launched by one or more attackers yesterday, whereas, a PTI worker, Muazzam Nawaz, was killed.

Following the assassination bid, protests erupted across the country which was attended by thousands of PTI workers to express their outrage against the incumbent government.

The PTI chief was immediately shifted to Shaukat Khanum Hospital in Lahore amid tight security where he underwent surgery for the removal of a bullet from lower leg. According to the doctors, the bullet was removed from his leg and he’s stable.
However, the assassination attempt has not fazed the PTI leadership as injured Imran Khan vowed to continue with his long march towards Islamabad.
PTI central leaders expressed aims to continue advancing towards the federal capital despite the injury of Imran Khan and other party leaders in the gun attack.
PTI Vice-Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi said on Twitter that the was not on Imran Khan but on the Pakistani nation. He added that Imran Khan will now move towards Islamabad with more force after the cowardly act.
PTI Secretary-General Asad Umar tweeted that the rulers could not stop Imran Khan and the cowards tried to martyr him. He added Allah Almighty has to get a lot of work done for the nation by the skipper [Imran Khan].
In a video message, Asad Umer said that PTI Chief Imran Khan asked him to give a message on his behalf to tell the nation about the responsible persons behind the attack on him.
He added that Imran Khan demanded the removal of three people including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah and a senior Pakistani intelligence official Major General Faisal from their offices as the attack was orchestrated by them.

After meeting Khan in Shaukat Khanum Hospital late Thursday night, Faisal Javed told the media that Imran Khan has vowed to continue his struggle for Pakistanis until his last breath and the real independence movement will take a new shape after the attack.
It was learnt that PTI leadership agreed on continuing the long march at 11:00 am today. Faisal Javed told the media yesterday that Imran Khan also summoned a key meeting today to finalise the future strategy of the PTI long march.
He added that PTI leadership was not afraid of such cowardly acts and will continue to struggle for the real independence.
