PTI urges NA speaker to collectively accept MNAs resignations

ISLAMABAD: A delegation of PTI lawmakers met the NA speaker and insisted on accepting the resignation collectively. However, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf said that individual confirmation is necessary as per the law.

A delegation of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf lawmakers met Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf in which there was a discussion about resignations, during which the PTI delegation insisted on accepting the resignations collectively.

The PTI lawmakers reached the Parliament House to meet the Speaker of the National Assembly, where they were welcomed by Raja Pervez Ashraf. Former Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser led the PTI delegation.

In the meeting, there was a discussion about the resignations from the NA seats on behalf of PTI. The PTI delegation insisted on accepting the resignations collectively.

Speaking to the delegation, the NA speaker said that the decision regarding the confirmation of resignations will be made according to the Constitution of Pakistan and the law. He said that individual confirmation is necessary as per the law.

Ashraf told the PTI lawmakers that all MNAs will be called individually for the resignations. He added that he had also summoned the MNAs individual before accepting their resignations.

He said that individual verification is necessary because a PTI lawmaker from Karachi approached the high court to stop his resignation from being accepted.

The PTI lawmakers insisted the NA speaker to accept the resignations collectively.

Ashraf said that doors are not closed in politics and relations between politicians should be restored.
