Bilawal’s photo with barefoot children vs the reality in flood-hit Dadu

A photo of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) chairman and foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari went viral on social media and showed him standing beside Dadu's children.

Pakistani politicians usually exhibit their public welfare deeds through speeches and pictures to collect praise from the masses instead of providing relief to the masses. A photo of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairman and foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari went viral on social media and showed him standing beside Dadu’s children.

Renowned social activist Riaz Ali Turi also shared Bilawal’s photo on Twitter with caption, “Chairman
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari bringing a smile to every face in the picture.”

Some people realised that many barefoot children were standing alongside Bilawal and others wearing old shoes. The photo was seemingly captured in a classroom of a school in a dilapidated building.

Bilawal also shared a picture of flooded Dadu on Instagram yesterday which he used to show for collecting donations from across the world. Five months have passed since the flood hit the Sindh areas but the PPP-led Sindh government has not yet made arrangements for the drainage of flood water, forcing citizens to spend days and nights under the open sky in extremely cold weather.

However, the rulers think that sharing some photos on social media is enough to complete their duties.

Analysts questioned what our rulers do in a personal capacity for the flood victims besides seeking financial assistance from foreign countries. PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif is residing in London and he has just toured Europe regardless of what impression he gave to the flood affectees in Pakistan.

Yesterday, a grand function was organised at Bilawal House Karachi where the venue was decorated with electric lamps, on the other hand, the ruling political party issued an order to close the markets at 8:30 and marriage halls at 10:00 pm for energy conservation.

Analysts said that the enforcement of law orders are seemingly only for the common people but the elites are exempted.
