Twitter trends began when Muslims espied that Google search engine has been declaring Mirza Masroor Ahmad as the present Caliph of Islam
The issues of the Qadiani community have always been the subject of debate in Pakistan since the constitution adopted the law declaring Ahmadis to be non-Muslims. However, the trends, at odds with Ahmadi community, are once again surfacing the microblogging and social networking site Twitter.
The recent Twitter trends began when Muslims espied that Google search engine has been declaring Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the current and fifth leader of the Ahmadi cult, as the present Caliph of Islam.
Whereas, caliph means the deputy or representative of a caliphate. In Islam, all caliphs are believed to be the successor to Prophet Muhammad.
Divulging of Mirza Masroor Ahmad as the Caliph of Islam is perturbing for Muslims around the globe. Intense emotional ire was induced and Muslims started reporting the content on Google.
Pakistan has roughly around 4 million Ahmadis and they were declared non-Muslims due to their belief according to which they do not regard the Prophet Muhammad as the last and final prophet of Islam. In 1974, the Parliament in Pakistan passed a law declaring Ahmadis as non-Muslims.
Further, in 1984, Ahmadis were also barred by law to refer themselves as Muslims. They were interdicted by the law from worshipping in non-Ahmadi mosques or public prayer rooms, publicly quoting the Quran, preaching in public, or producing and publishing their religious materials.
In Pakistan, since then, Ahmadis persecution and hate-related incidents had been reported from different areas of the country over the time.
However, this time, Muslims are recording their protests on social media and reporting this as a false and misleading claim.
