Punjab, KPK elections: SC will hold daily hearing to resolve the matter
Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Atta Bandyal has remarked government and Tehreek-e-Insaf should assure whether they want fair and transparent elections or not

Petitions against postponement of elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been heard in Supreme Court of Pakistan, court has postponed hearing by issuing notices to parties.
A 5-member larger bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan heard petitions against the Election Commission’s decision to postpone elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Supreme Court sought assurances from the government and Tehreek-e-Insaf.
During the hearing, Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Umar Atta Bandial remarked that the sad situation is that the parties are at odds with each other.
The Chief Justice remarked that the government and Tehreek-e-Insaf should assure whether they want fair and transparent elections or not. The Chief Justice said, “We cannot take any decision in the air unless all the parties agree.” The Constitution is not interpreted to make or break the government.

A 5-member larger bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Umar Atta Bandial heard the case. The Supreme Court has issued notices to the Federation, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, governors of both provinces and the Election Commission of Pakistan and sought their response by tomorrow. Chief Justice Omar Atta Bandial said that the court will hear the case on a daily basis.
During the hearing, PTI’s lawyer Barrister Ali Zafar said that it is an important constitutional matter that there is a delay regarding the elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Barrister Zafar Ali said that three basic orders are being violated. By postponing the elections, the Constitution of Pakistan is being violated, the orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan on March 1 are being violated, the announcement of the election date by the President of Pakistan is being violated.
Therefore, we request the Supreme Court of Pakistan to implement its orders from the Election Commission. And make it possible to hold elections in Punjab and KP on April 30.

On this occasion, Justice Jamal Khan Mandukhel said that if you want the order to be implemented, then the best form for this is the High Court. Why did you come directly to the Supreme Court?
On this occasion, the Chief Justice of Pakistan said that this is an important constitutional and legal issue, it is a matter of fundamental rights of the citizens of both provinces. So in this the court has to decide, whether this matter is to be decided by the Supreme Court, whether it has to hear this case or by the High Court.
