A dangerous fire broke out late on Tuesday night in Barsin area of ​​Lower Kohistan, gutting the warehouse of Dasu Dam and Pippan Power Project and the residential camp of Chinese workers.

Around 4:30 am, the fire caused by a short circuit engulfed the residential camps of Chinese engineers and workers. No casualty was reported in the accident.

Fire tenders of Rescue 1122 and fighters of Upper Kohistan and Lower Kohistan rushed to the spot on emergency information and brought the fire under control. Rescue 1122, District Emergency Officer of Upper Kohistan, Khaleeq Dad, said the flames engulfed the entire area and burnt down camps and warehouses.

He said that it took five hours to completely control the fire as fire fighters from different districts and Chinese companies participated in the fire extinguishing process. According to eyewitnesses, the fire was brought under control around 9:30 am and Chinese Engineers and workers were shifted to nearby safe places.

Dasu Dam General Manager Anwar Haq told reporters that an inquiry into the incident has been initiated which will be completed in three days as it is part of our standard operational procedure.
