Money not provided for Punjab elections, ECP, SBP, Ministry of finance informs SC
Report submitted by Election Commission of Pakistan to Supreme Court states that State Bank did not provide money as per order of Apex Court
Election Commission of Pakistan, State Bank and Ministry of Finance have submitted a report to Supreme Court of Pakistan regarding the provision of funds for elections in Punjab.
According to the details, in report submitted by Election Commission (ECP) to Supreme Court, it has been said that State Bank has not provided funds for elections in Punjab.
Election Commission has informed Supreme Court that money has not been transferred by State Bank.
It should be noted that Supreme Court of Pakistan ordered State Bank to release 21 billion rupees to Election Commission by April 17 for elections in Punjab.
Supreme Court had ordered State Bank to release Rs 21 billion to Election Commission after coordinating with Finance Ministry.
However, in the latest report submitted by the Election Commission, it has been stated that neither the Finance Ministry nor the State Bank has released the money.
In the reports submitted by the State Bank of Pakistan and the Ministry of Finance to the Supreme Court, the reasons for non-deposit of funds have been explained. The reports have been submitted to the Supreme Court Registrar’s Office.
