Elizabeth Host, USA State Department’s overseer of Pakistan affairs, has said that Pakistan should move forward with reforms recommended by International Financial Institute, which have been stalled.

Elizabeth Host described reforms agreed by the IMF as difficult but necessary to put Pakistan back on a strong economic footing.

According to French news agency, in a speech at a seminar organized by think tank Wilson Center, Elizabeth Host said that reforms agreed by Pakistan and IMF are not easy, but will help to avoid going into further debt and develop economy. It is very important that Pakistan takes these steps to get country back on a strong economic footing.

He said that Pakistan-US security relations have improved in a year, Afghanistan should not become a haven for terrorists, for this purpose Pakistan-US cooperation is continuing after US withdrawal.

Elizabeth Host further said that US, like Pakistan, is concerned about the TTP, and it is in our common interest to push the Taliban to fulfill their promises. US will continue to support Pakistan through technical engagements and assistance.
