Nawazuddin Wins “Black Lady” at First Filmfare OTT Awards 2020

Indian actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui wins “Best Actor in a Web Original Film” at inaugural Flyx Filmfare OTT Awards for his performance in “Raat Akeli Hai”.

Nawazuddin was nominated for Filmfare Best Actor along with Amit Sadh, Aparshakti Khurana, Manoj Bajpayee, and Vinay Pathak.

Filmfare has introduced the first edition of OTT (an over-the-top media service) awards to honor the excellence of web-series.

Only the shows that have been released between August 2019 and July 2020 were considered for the Flyx Filmfare OTT Awards 2020.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui shared his excitement and acclaimed OTT for providing actors a platform that can showcase a number of talented actors, directors, and the crew.

“2020 is no doubt a very painful year for everyone, but for me it brings success as my two to three movies are on OTT and being appreciated by the viewers”, the actor added.

Nawazuddin is a former student of the National School of Drama. His debut feature film was Patang in 2012.

His famous movies include Black Friday, Gangs of Wasseypur, The Lunch Box, Manto, and Raman Raghav 2.0.

However, the award for best series was won by Amazon’s Prime Video’s Paatal Lok and the Best Web Original Film Award was bagged by Raat Akeli Hai .

Jaideep Ahlawat wins the Best Actor in Drama Series (Male) for Pataal Lok and Sushmita Sen for Best Actor in Drama Series (Female) for her performance in Aarya.

Whereas, Filmfare Best Comedy Series Award was won by Panchayat.

Pataal Lok took five black ladies home including awards for Best Series, Best Director, and Best Actor series.
