Karachi Gas Shortage Irks Shehzad Roy And Sindh Govt
The premier should pay heed to the gas shortage in Karachi and redress the issue at the earliest as he won 13 of 21 seats of National Assembly
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has raised gas shortage issue in the province, particularly in Karachi, with Prime Minister Imran Khan as his voice is joined by singer Shehzad Roy and thousands of other residents of Karachi.
In the letter to Prime Minister Imran, the Sindh chief minister pointed out that almost 68 percent of the gas requirement was produced by the province. However, it suffers the paucity of it.
Murad Ali Shah said that Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has reserved a quota of around 1,000 MMCFD (million cubic feet a day) for Sindh against the requirement of up to 1,600 MMCFD.

The chief of the provincial government highlighted the plight of domestic and industrial consumers.
He stated that people could not cook food and industries cannot operate due to gas shortage.
Murad drew the premier’s attention towards the daily-wage workers who were suffering due to the closure of public transport in connection with the shut down of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations.
Further, a famous singer Shehzad Roy, who lives in Karachi, shared a video on his Twitter which he recorded in his kitchen.
He turned on the stove and there was no gas in it.

Shehzad Roy expressed concern that this was the condition in a posh locality of the metropolis.
“What would be the condition in other areas?”, he wondered.
The singer urged the people of Karachi to pinpoint areas in the comments section and interpret who was responsible for the gas shortage.
“Is it the government or is it the gas supply company?”, he sought guidance from the locals of Karachi.

What he must realize is that the gas shortage issue is not raised by an opposition party which is in power in a province but from Shehzad Roy and thousands of others from Karachi who voted for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and it secured 13 out of 21 seats of National Assembly (NA).
