Pakistan denounces Israeli assault on Gaza, urges global action

UAE confirms agreement with Israel to send urgent relief to Gaza

Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has strongly condemned the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza, calling it a direct threat to peace and stability in the region.

In a statement, Dar said Israel has deliberately targeted hospitals and key infrastructure in Gaza, which amounts to a grave violation of international laws and humanitarian principles.

Highlighting the worsening humanitarian crisis, he noted that one in every five people in Gaza is facing hunger, and the entire population is at risk of food insecurity and famine-like conditions.

“These actions are not just attacks on infrastructure; they are attacks on human dignity and survival,” he remarked.

Dar urged the international community to take immediate steps to end Israel’s campaign of genocide against Palestinians. He also called for unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza and opposed any efforts to displace Palestinians from their land forcibly.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s long-standing position, the foreign minister reiterated unwavering support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and resistance against occupation.

Meanwhile United Arab Emirates said on Tuesday it agreed with Israel to allow delivery of urgent humanitarian aid from the Gulf country to Gaza, the state news agency WAM reported.

Also Britain on Tuesday paused free trade talks with Israel, summoned its ambassador, and announced further sanctions against West Bank settlers after Prime Minister Keir Starmer said he was horrified by the military escalation in Gaza.

Foreign minister David Lammy said the offensive was not the way to bring remaining hostages home, called for Israel to end the blockade of aid and condemned what he called “extremism” in some sections of Israel’s government.

“We cannot stand by in the face of this new deterioration. It is incompatible with the principles that underpin our bilateral relationship,” Lammy told lawmakers.

“Frankly, it’s an affront to the values of the British people. Therefore, today, I’m announcing that we have suspended negotiations with this Israeli government on a new free trade agreement.”
