Balochistan First Minerals University to End Deprivation

The varsity is expected to end deprivation of locals as they have long been denied employment on the pretext of being non-skilled

To develop the skills of locals of Balochistan, the government of Pakistan has decided to establish the first-ever minerals and natural resources university in the province.

Umer Khan Sanjrani Minerals & Natural Resources University would in established in Nok Kundi, Chaghi area of Balochistan province.

Balochistan is the richest province of Pakistan in terms of mineral and natural resources and it is proven that minerals of different kinds worth $US 50 trillion are present there.

However, the local human resource has long been denied employment on the pretext of being non-skilled.

The establishment of a mineral university was the utmost demand of the locals of a natural-resources-rich province.

But, the establishment of the first-ever mineral university will likely end the deprivation of Balochi youth.

The varsity would be expanded on over 500 acres and its estimated cost is around Rs6 billion.

Mineral Mine, Chagi

The consultancy report of the project would be prepared in a month while the Higher Education Commission (HEC) would roll out its review report on January 25.

The final report for kicking-off construction work would be submitted by March 5.

Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani, who hails from Chagi, said that equipping youth of the mineral-abundant province with relevant technical skills was the need of the hour.

He added that Umer Khan Sanjrani Minerals & Natural Resources University would prove to be a milestone in the development of the sector in Pakistan.

Senate Chairman assured that the timely construction of the higher educational institution would be ensured.

Balochistan province has an abundance of minerals including lead, zinc, barite, chromite, coal, gypsum, limestone, ochre, silica sand, etc.
