All were questioning if the educational institutions would reopen as the coronavirus cases in Pakistan jumped to 3,097 on January 14

The federal and provincial education ministers of Pakistan have decided to reopen educational institutions in the country from January 18.

The parents and students were in a quandary and all had the same question in their minds if the schools and colleges will be opened again as the coronavirus cases in the country spiked to 3,097 on January 14. This was the highest number of coronavirus cases in Pakistan a single day since December 18.

The last when the country crossed the 3,000 mark of single-day cases was on December 18 when 3,179 positive cases were reported.

Earlier, the federal government had announced the phase-wise resumption of educational activities across the country from January 18.

The educational institutions in the country were closed on November 26 to stem the spread of coronavirus.

However, Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood had maintained that the pandemic situation would be reviewed before the given date.

Since the cases have spiked to an alarming figure three days before the resumption date, the parents and students were worried and anxiously awaiting the decision to be elicited in the meeting of education ministers today.

What locals of Islamabad want?

Muhammad Maroof, the father of Suleiman Maroof who is a Class-I student in a private school in Islamabad, told News360 that resumption of curricular activities was thus important.

However, the students come from different areas and the chances of coronavirus contract escalate.

A local of Islamabad, Farooq Ahmed, said that the number of positive cases was on the rise and the government would have to choose between the education of children and their health.
