Imran Khan Bait & Switch Tactic in Broadsheet Committee

In a ploy, Prime Minister Imran Khan constituted a three-member committee to probe into broadsheet saga as opted for ministers who have taken a different route on various matters and haven’t been tagged as the blue-eyed of the premier.

The committee will comprise of Federal Science and Technology Minister Fawad Chaudhry and Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari and Information Minister Shibli Faraz.

Excluding convener Shibli Faraz, both ministers who are part of the committee have been known for opposing Imran Khan on various issues.

On multiple occasions, these ministers did not seem to align with the premier and remained vocal about their standpoints which thus was against the majority of their party.

The recent episode was the infamous Lahore rape case in which Prime Minister Imran Khan advocated for public hanging of the culprits.

However, Fawad Chaudhry and Shireen Mazari opposed him openly on media.

The move by Imran Khan is a smart one as it would make the panel probing into a controversial matter credible and minimize chances of the opposition to criticize it of partiality.

The committee will present its report within two days which may open a new Pandora’s Box in the politics of Pakistan.
