The PTI’s government is going to get approval of the annual budget for FY21-22 from the National Assembly (NA) today, however, businessmen and traders are not contented with the decision and still hold some reservations.

Although Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin had termed the budget as growth-oriented and business-friendly, the business community and traders disagree with it and termed it a huge ‘Pandora’s box’.

Talking to News360, Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) member Mian Zahid Hussain said the business community has accepted the budget based on the speech of the finance minister. However, he expressed that the details don’t look in favor of them.

Zahid, who is also the President of Pakistan Businessmen and Intellectuals Forum (PBIF), added that the finance minister assured that there would be no hike in power tariff.

But, he doubted that it would not be possible for the government due to ongoing issues with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Referring to the gas crisis, he said that the government does not take the traders into confidence on any issue and highlighted that neither they are coordinated in advance that the gas fields would be closed due to annual repairs nor an alternative arrangement is done.
