Dar’s US visit Cancellation is a precursor to a new economic storm
Federal Finance Minister has confirmed cancellation of his visit to US, Ishaq Dar was supposed to meet IMF officials in Washington, but instead of him, Pakistani delegation will attend spring meeting of World Bank and IMF
Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has confirmed the cancellation of his visit to America. The Finance Minister participated in the Bihar meeting of the World Bank and the IMF on April 10.
Finance Minister’s visit to the US was canceled due to the political situation in the country. According to government sources, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar was also scheduled to meet with UAE officials during his visit to America.
No schedule has yet been rescheduled for meetings with UAE authorities. Pakistani delegation will participate in spring meeting of World Bank and IMF. Secretary Finance Yakub Hamid Sheikh and Secretary Economic Affairs Dr. Kazim Niaz will participate in Pakistani delegation.
Governor State Bank will also go to America in Pakistan’s delegation. Pakistani delegation will discuss with IMF officials recovery of loan program.
IMF has objected to the government of Pakistan’s offer of cheap petrol. IMF is still not verifying external funding received by Pakistan.
Experts say that after the cancellation of the US visit, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s visit to Saudi Arabia has become very important.
