Federal govt recommends K-Electric to increase electricity price by Rs 6/unit

Nepra will hear the federal government’s request on April 3. Electricity will be expensive in terms of bi-quarterly adjustments. Electricity will cost up to Rs 4.45 per unit under a quarterly adjustment.

Under the second quarter of last year, electricity will cost Rs 1.55 per unit. The hike has been decided to maintain a uniform tariff. Additional collections will be made during April-June 2023.

The people of Karachi are more worried about this decision of the federal government because inflation has already made life difficult and in such a situation, the cost of electricity will increase further.
