Merely weeks after assuming the charge, Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin praised the government for its positive economic policies but that was not the case when he had just held the steering and it seems like he is either confused himself or has been misled.

In a presser on Tuesday in Islamabad, the finance minister hailed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government over its economic policies which he believes would bring extensive improvement in the future.

Taking to his Twitter handle, he commended Prime Minister Imran Khan and his team for V-shaped recovery amid coronavirus pandemic and IMF program.

The praise of economic policies by Shaukat Tarin has left everyone puzzled and some believe that the finance minister could have been misled on data or he is confused himself.

A trip down the memory lane

Nearly three weeks ago, Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin lashed out at the economic policies of Imran Khan’s government which the premier had started to extol months after he assumed office in 2018.

While talking in his first meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Finance, Shaukat Tarin slammed the enforced economic policies and said the country did not have short, medium, or long-term policies in place.

He had cited examples of China, India, and Turkey that have adhered to long-term economic policies.

The quantum leap in Tarin’s stance on the economy has startled the critics as they believe that either the new finance minister has been misled or he is puzzled himself.
