The inflation rate in Pakistan edged up to 11.1 % in April 2021 as compared to the 9.1 % in March according to the data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
In the previous month, the rate of inflation was 9.1% compared to March last year, which has increased 2%.
The figures by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics revealed that April coupled with the start of Ramazan has seen accelerated growth in the prices of food items to nearly 16% while vegetables became 19% expensive.

Food items saw a jump in prices like chicken by 92%, tomatoes by 82 %, cooking oil by 21%, milk by 20%, sugar by 18.2%, and flour by 17%.
Meanwhile, the prices of non-food items including clothes and shoes jumped up to 17% each while that of medicines by 13%.
Whereas, the prices of plastic and other related items increased by 14% during the month of Ramazan.
Pakistan Bureau of Statistics data revealed that higher food prices especially with the start of Ramazan pulled up inflation as prices of food groups rose 15.7% year-on-year basis and 2.7% month-on-month basis in April.
The data showed that core inflation in urban areas was recorded at 7% in April, compared to 6.3% in the previous month.
Meanwhile, in rural areas, inflation swelled by 7.7% in April from 7.3% in the previous month.
