The inflation rate in the country is touching new heights. The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) released the Weekly Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI), recording an increase of a 4.13% inflation rate.

According to the report, the overall rate of inflation in the country reached 30.68% per cent. It reported that the prices of 21 items increased in the recent week.

There was stability in the prices of 14 items this week. In the recent week, electricity tariff have increased by 89.34% and per unit electricity price was increased from Rs3.47 to Rs6.57.

According to PBS, the price of energy savers increased by 1.57% in one week, firewood increased by 1.31% in the last week.

Prices of tea, rice, garlic, flour, ghee and mutton were also increased in recent weeks. The report stated that tomatoes became cheaper by 3.77% and onions by 2.97% this week. In recent weeks, dal masoor, chicken, brown sugar, dal mash, LPG and potato became cheaper.
