Miftah Ismail commends Roshan Digital Account initiative of PTI govt

PML-N leader Miftah Ismail praised the Roshan Digital Account initiative of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government.

KARACHI: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader Miftah Ismail, who is also likely to be appointed as the finance adviser in the new setup, praised the Roshan Digital Account initiative of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government.

In a Twitter message, the State Bank of Pakistan’s (SBP) Roshan Digital Account is an initiative that allows Pakistan’s diaspora to invest in their homeland on very attractive terms. “Lots of great products are on offer & SBP has exciting plans to expand these further. Our government is fully committed to supporting RDA,” he added.

He was responding to a SBP tweet, saying, “We thank our #OverseasPakistanis for their love and patriotism and making #SBP’s #RoshanDigitalAccount a huge success in such a short span of time.”

Roshan Digital Account

Roshan Digital Account is a major initiative of State Bank of Pakistan, in collaboration with commercial banks operating in Pakistan.

These accounts provide innovative banking solutions for millions of Non-Resident Pakistanis (NRPs), including Non-Resident Pakistan Origin Card (POC) holders, seeking to undertake banking, payment and investment activities in Pakistan.

For the first time in Pakistan’s history, NRPs are being provided with an opportunity to remotely open an account in Pakistan through an entirely digital and online process without any need to visit a bank branch.

Opening the account will require only a basic set of information and documents. Banks have been asked to complete all necessary customer due diligence within 48 hours.

Eligibility

Non-resident Pakistanis with Pakistani passport, NICOP, POC or NIC

Individuals who are employed, self-employed, unemployed, housewives/homemakers, students, children, and pensioners.

Companies or entities cannot open Roshan Digital Account.
