According to Finance Ministry sources, Petroleum Development Levy on diesel has been increased by Rs 5, According to IMF conditions, levy on diesel has been imposed at Rs 50

People deprived of relief on petroleum products, levy rate on diesel was increased to 50 rupees to please  IMF. Economists say that oil prices have crashed in the world market, but the government has not provided any kind of relief to the people, while the world market oil fell to the level of 65 dollars per barrel.

The Ministry of Finance has issued a notification regarding the prices of petroleum products, according to which the price of petrol per liter will remain at Rs 272, while diesel will be available at Rs 293 per litre.

According to the notification, the price of kerosene has been reduced to Rs 180.29 after Rs 10 cheaper. The price of light diesel oil has been reduced by Rs 10 per liter to Rs 174.68 Thus, people have been deprived of major relief on petrol and diesel.

Instead of giving relief to the people affected by inflation, the federal government has increased the rate of petroleum development levy.

According to sources in the Ministry of Finance, the levy on kerosene has been imposed at Rs 2.83 petrol is also levied at Rs 50, and rate of development levy on light diesel oil has been reduced by 80 paise. The rate of development levy on light diesel oil is Rs 13.78.

According to the sources, IMF is demanding a levy on petroleum products of Rs 50 per liter. Levy on petrol is already imposed at the rate of Rs.50 per liter.

According to Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Fawad Chaudhry, oil prices have crashed in the global market and reached 65 dollars, but the people are still deprived of relief.
