Overseas Pakistanis Broke Remittances Record in FY21

The highest inflows came from Saudi Arabia and UAE that remained at $7.6 billion and $6.1 billion respectively

The confidence of overseas Pakistanis in the incumbent government and its economic policies is growing as they sent record remittances in the fiscal year 2020-2021 (FY21).

The ex-Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Zulfi Bukhari shared the figures on Twitter.

He wrote that overseas Pakistanis sent some $29.4 billion to their native country in FY21.

The figure was $23.13 billion in FY20 while the inflows saw an increase of 27% in the preceding fiscal year. An aggregate rise of 8% on month-over-month (MoM) basis was also recorded in the last financial year.

In FY21, the highest inflows came from Saudi Arabia and UAE that remained at $7.6 billion and $6.1 billion respectively.

The third in the last was the UK with remittances of around $4 billion.

The ex-minister wrote that the government will get the figure up to $32 billion.

Zulfi Bukhari said that the best way the overseas Pakistanis could be rewarded is the provision of more facilities to them along with voting rights.
