Pakistan-Afghanistan Trade Marks Threefold Increase
According to customs officials, around 1,200 goods trucks were moving across the borders until Friday
After the Taliban have seized the power in Afghanistan, its trade with Pakistan has seen a threefold increase as the confidence of the traders has been restored.
The bilateral trade between Afghanistan and Pakistan has increased since the Taliban gained control last Sunday.
The volume of bilateral trade had remained low amid uncertainty as the militia started gaining control of tracts after July 5.

The number of goods trucks crossing the Pak-Afghan border in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkwa (KP) provinces dropped to as low as around 450 on August 15, the day of Kabul fall.
However, the clouds of uncertainty shattered when Taliban leader Zabihullah Mujahid announced in his first press conference that the trade with neighboring countries would continue as in the past.
This boosted the confidence of the merchants and set a threefold increase in trade between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
According to customs officials, around 1,200 goods trucks were moving across Pak-Afghan borders until Friday.
This is expected to increase once the Pakistani authorities are going to hold talks with the Taliban authorities.
Further, the Afghan truck drivers said that the authorities on their side of the borders were demanding exorbitant sums during the turmoil situation for permission to cross the border.
However, they jubilantly said that they are facing no such problem in the Taliban rule.
