PBS Data Shows Karachi is Getting Priciest Flour
A 20-kg bag of flour is being sold at Rs 1,330 in Rawalpindi, Rs 1,260 in Sukkur, Rs 1,240 in Peshawar, Rs 1,280 in Islamabad, and Rs 1,220 in Lahore and Multan
According to Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the recent restlessness in the market has skyrocketed the price of flour within a week especially in Karachi where it has surged to Rs 1,440 for a 20-kg bag.
The price of a 20-kg bag in Karachi has increased by Rs 80, forcing residents to buy recording-breaking expensive flour.
The sudden rise has doubled the hardships of the people belonging to middle or low-income backgrounds as the basic commodity is getting out of their reach.
Previously, Prime Minister Imran Khan allowed the withdrawal of the subsidy on wheat flour for urban consumers by agreeing to increase the release price of the commodity to mills by over 32% to Rs 1, 950 per 40 kg due to limited fiscal space.

According to PBS statistics, the Karachi residents are getting the flour at the most expensive rates as the price of a 20-kg bag has reached Rs 1,440.
Similarly, a 20-kg bag of flour has gone up by Rs 60 and is being sold at Rs 1,300 in Larkana while in Hyderabad, it is available at Rs 1,360.
Moreover, a 20-kg bag of flour is being sold at Rs 1,330 in Rawalpindi, Rs 1,260 in Sukkur, Rs 1,240 in Peshawar, Rs 1,280 in Islamabad, and Rs 1,220 in Lahore and Multan.
Seeing the rising cost of flour, people said that this is affecting their household budget as their limited income isn’t sufficient to make ends meet.
