Pensioners in Pakistan Put in a Test of Biometric Verification
New rules state pensions would step if they fail to submit a life certificate or does not undergo biometric verification during March and October
Senior citizens in different parts of the world are facilitated by the governments to spend the remaining half of their lives with ease, but in Pakistan, they have been burdened by the government as the pensioners have been put in a test of undergoing biometric verification to get the pension.
The federal government has issued a notification that reads that it would be mandatory for all retirees in Pakistan to open a bank account in which their pensions would land.
For this purpose, the pensioners would have to go under biometric verification from the bank to maintain the pension account.
However, according to new rules, the federal government has provided an alternative for pensioners that they would have to provide a life certificate signed by an authorized person every six months.
This facility can only be availed if the biometric verification cannot be done due to bodily illness, infirmity of if fingerprints do not exist.
The new rules state that the pensioner would stop getting pensions if they fail to submit a life certificate or does not undergo biometric verification during March and October.
All such bank accounts would be blocked.
