ISLAMABAD: The federal government has slashed the petrol price up to Rs5 per litre from December 16 for the next 15 days.

The government has reduced the prices of petroleum products up to Rs7.01 per litre.

According to a notification by the Finance Division, Rs5 per litre has been reduced on petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD), whereas, Rs7 per litre was decreased on kerosene and Rs7.01 on light diesel oil.

The new prices of the petroleum products will come into effect from December 16, Thursday midnight till December 31.

The price of petrol was reduced from 145.82 per litre to 140.82, HSD from 142.62 to 137.62, Kerosine from 116.53 to 109.53 and light diesel oil from 114.07 to 107.06.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) had recommended the government to reduce the prices of petroleum protests up to Rs8 to 10 per litre following the decline of POL rates in international markets.
