PSX Recorded Highest Ever Volume of Rs 2 Billion

On Thursday, Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) trading volume closed at 2.217 billion shares surpassing the previous best of Rs 1.8 billion while volume amounting to Rs 1.56 billion changed hands on Wednesday.

Trade value has been highest in the last 14.3 years while the highest turnover recorded in World Call at Rs 950 million shares.

“The traded volume clocked in at 1,560 million shares in today’s session, which is the highest ever in the history of the PSX”, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Political Communication Dr Shahbaz Gill shared the glad tiding in a tweet.

The turnover of Rs 1.56 billion shares was led by Worldcall Telecom Ltd (WTL) with 708 million shares.

Planning and Development Minister Asad Umar also tweeted that the volume exceeded the previous record by 39%.

“The successful containment of the covid 3rd wave though risk still remains. Also adding to the positive sentiment”, he added.

In this regard, stock market analyst Muzammil Aslam told News360, “For the first time in the history of Pakistan Stock Exchange this volume has been traded on the index”.
