RDA Achieves More Milestones With $1.65b Inflows

The foreign inflows through the scheme have crossed $1.65 billion with 180,000 new accounts

Roshan Digital Account (RDA) has achieved more milestones as the foreign inflows have crossed $1.65 billion with 180,000 new accounts, as shared by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

SBP Governor Reza Baqir addressed the Pakistani community in Canada in a webinar and maintained that Pakistanis living in nearly 171 countries have opened their accounts in RDA.

These accounts have so far received remittances worth $1.65 billion.

He said an amount of $1.56 billion has been invested in total of which $621 million has been invested in Naya Pakistan, $429 million in Islamic Naya Pakistan certificates, and a healthy $490 million or 31 % of the entire investments in the account balance, transactions, or bill payments.

Pakistan was facing a current account deficit of $19 billion that has become a surplus now, he added.

Pakistan High Commissioner to Canada Raza Bashir Tarar described the success of RDA as the confidence of Pakistanis living abroad in the policies of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

He added that Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi always laid emphasis on providing hassle-free lifestyle banking in Pakistan for overseas Pakistanis.

“The introduction of RDA scheme had provided the overseas Pakistanis a much-needed cushion and a secure and credible avenue to invest and participate in the growth of Pakistan”, he said.
