The Securities Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) chairman and former chairman started lobbying ahead of the appointment of the commissioners.
Sources told News360 that former SECP chairman Zafar Hijazi’s lobby is quite strong as the names of Akif Saeed, Khalida Habib and Abdul Rehman Waraich are placed on the top.
20 names have been shortlisted for the appointment of three commissioners in the Securities Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) while interviews of three to five persons are being conducted every day from November 18.
Sources closer to the finance ministry said the lobbying of the former and current chairman has started for the appointments of SECP commissioners. According to the sources, the names of Akif Saeed, Khalida Habib and Abdul Rehman Waraich are on top for the appointment of commissioners.

The current SECP chairman Aamir Khan is backing Abdul Rehman while the former chairman Zafar Hijazi’s lobby is supporting Akif Saeed, sources added.
On November 21, Monday, under the chair of the finance minister, interviews were conducted for the appointment of committee commissioners, and in this regard, Khaleda Habib’s interview was declared good.
According to the sources, three commissioners will be appointed in SECP after the interviews. However, interviews of all the candidates called for the appointment of commissioners were not conducted in the last three working days.
The final call for interviews has been made to 20 members for the appointment of SECP commissioners.
Secretary Policy Board Bilal Rasool was also called for an interview for the appointment of commissioners.
Among the 20 people who have been shortlisted are Bilal Rasool, Raheel Ahmed, Akif Saeed, Khalida Habib, Abdul Rehman Waraich, Khalid Mehmood, Imran Inayat Butt, Abid Hussain, Mian Amir Mumtaz, Zia Mustafa, Abdul Majid Alvi, Muhammad Farooq, Muhammad Javed Qureshi, Mujtaba Ahmed Lodhi, Muhammad Imran, Wadia Khalil, Javed Adamji, Syed Amir Bukhari, Siraj Ahmed and Jahan Arasjad Ahmed are included.
