The price of domestic urea is around Rs1,718 per bag in the Pakistan, which is very low as compared to international prices of fertiliser.
The international urea price is about $854 per ton. If we convert the international price in local currency it amounts to Rs9,550 per bag. Therefore, the difference between the international and local urea price is Rs7,932 for one bag.
International DAP prices had jumped to $637/MT from $338/ton.
Freight cost rose to $45/MT as opposed to $30/MT.

Last week, Agriculture Minister Hussain Jehanian Gardezi while addressing at the Multan Press Club had said that sufficient stock of fertilizers was available for Rabi crops. He said that no one would be allowed to sell area at exorbitant prices.
Jehanian said that price of one bag of fertilizer was about Rs10,000 at international. However, the minister said that price of urea fertilizer was Rs1800 only in Pakistan.
The minister said the PTI-led government was giving Rs1,000 subsidy on a bag of DAP fertilizer.
