AJC will stand with Israel for Justice, Security and Peace

Last week, AJC President Daniel Rosen held meeitng with Israeli President Isaac Herzog at the President’s Residence in Jerusalem. Discussion focused on efforts to bring hostages home, the deep and enduring relationship between the United States and Israel, the challenges facing Israel and the Middle East, and the urgent need for continued support and solidarity within the Jewish community during this difficult time. They also explored initiatives to build bridges between communities in the United States.

AJC president described the meeting as a unique privilege to present President Herzog with a framed copy of a historic speech his father, President Chaim Herzog, delivered to the American Jewish Congress in 1996. The speech was so impactful that Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan, a strong ally of Israel, had it included in the U.S. Congressional Record—a lasting testament to its significance.

President Herzog took great pride in his late father’s Profiles in Courage Awards speech, delivered on March 16, 1996, at a gala hosted by the American Jewish Congress at the United Nations. In it, Chaim Herzog reaffirmed Israel’s commitment to peace, its fight against terrorism, and the enduring bond between Israel and the American Jewish community. His words resonated deeply at a time of heightened Middle East tensions, making their inclusion in the Congressional Record a powerful symbol of alignment between American political leadership and Israel’s strategic vision.

“Today, many of the challenges Chaim Herzog highlighted remain, now intensified by the multifront war Israel faces in the Middle East and the exponential rise in global antisemitism affecting world Jewry. I pledged to President Isaac Herzog that the American Jewish Congress will continue to stand up for the Jewish community, support Israel, and work to strengthen the special U.S.-Israel relationship. In times of crisis, true allies stand together”, added AJC President.

“We must remain steadfast in our commitment to justice, security, and peace, ensuring that Israel has the unwavering support it needs to meet the challenges ahead”, concluded Daniel.
