Iran assures justice to slain Pakistanis

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi telephoned Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar to discuss the recent killing of eight Pakistani nationals in Iran.

According to a statement issued by Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan, Araghchi expressed condolences and assured Dar that the perpetrators involved in the tragic incident would be brought to justice. He also pledged full cooperation in repatriating the victims’ bodies.

The two sides discussed the April 12 terrorist attack in the village, located in Iran’s Sistan province, where eight Pakistani citizens were shot dead. The victims hailed from the Bahawalpur district in Punjab, including six residents of Khanqah Sharif — Dilshad, his son Danish, and nephew Jafar among them — while two others, Muhammad Jamshed and Muhammad Khalid, were from Ahmedpur East.

During the call, Araghchi also briefed Ishaq Dar on the recent diplomatic engagement between Iran and the United States held in Oman on April 12. Dar appreciated the dialogue and encouraged continued engagement.

The call reflects ongoing diplomatic coordination between the two countries as Pakistan seeks justice and safe repatriation for the victims.
