Two Saudi diplomats looted in Pakistan’s capital
Two Saudi Arabia’s diplomats were looted in Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad, by unidentified men on Sunday, according to a police complaint.
“We were walking in the Hill View Park when 30/35 years of men on two motorcycles came to us and robbed our two i-Phone 15 Pro,” said the first information report registered at the federal capital’s Margalla Police Station.
The case was registered on the complaint of Saudi Attaché Khalid bin Modhi Al Toom. Each mobile phone was worth Rs300,000.
One of the suspects was carrying a dagger, while the other was armed. The suspects forcibly snatched two mobile phones from the victims and fled the scene. “They kept asking us the passwords,” it stated and added that the suspects ran away towards the Centarus Mall.
The complaint invoked Section 392 (punishment for robbery) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
In reaction to the development, the inspector general of Islamabad Police has formed four special teams and the SP (OCU) has been given a special task to investigate the incident.
“Digital surveillance, cellular technology and human intelligence are being used. The accused will be arrested soon,” the police said in a post.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has also taken notice of the robbery incident against the Saudi citizens. He has contacted the IG Islamabad and directed him to ensure the immediate arrest of the suspects involved and take further legal action.
