Who Won UK’s Best-Selling Female Artist of The Century?

Singer Adele named UK’s Best-Selling Female Artist of The Century by breaking the record of Madonna, Rihanna, and Pink on the charts

English singer-songwriter Adele released her second album 21 in 2011 and after a decade, she has been titled as UK’s best-selling female album artist of the century beating Pink, Rihanna, Madonna, Dido, Amy Winehouse, and others.

The Hello singer nailed the position after the sales of her album were collated by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI).

The list of UK’s official top 10 women album artists for the year 2000 to 2021 included Adele, who set the bar high, along with Pink on second, Madonna on third, Rihanna on fourth, and Lady Gaga on 10th.

The purpose of organizing national album day is to cherish and invigorate artists from around the world to continue influencing and inspires fans through music and stories.

This year, the theme for the national album day revolves around celebrating the women in music and culture and their contribution to the industry.  

Recently, a seven-member South Korean boy band, Bangtan Boys (BTS) achieved the title of the best-selling artist for the year 2020.

The band conquered the crown against Taylor Swift, who was second on the list, followed by Drake on third, The Weeknd on fourth, and Billie Eilish on fifth.

Some six million copies of the second album 21 were sold, marking it as the number one album by a female artist to date.

However, her other albums including 25 and19 were also featured in the top 10. 

The 32-year-old singer shredded 100 pounds post-divorce with Simon Konecki that was finalized after two years of negotiations and now she has been awarded as UK’s best-selling female artist of the century.
