After Ali Zafar, Mehwish Hayat Grilled For Commending NAB

She said that accountability watchdog is doing a great job in making Pakistan a corruption-free country

NAB Chairman Justice (R) Javed Iqbal is completing his 4-year term on October 8 and actress Mehwish Hayat has applauded the hard work of the bureau in controlling corruption.

Javed Iqbal, who is also a retired justice of the Supreme Court (SC), took charge as the chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in October 2017.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has also commended the performance of the retired jurist.

Sources revealed that Imran Khan has also been advised by some of his aides to give Javed Iqbal a 4-year extension by amending NAB law. However, he hasn’t reached a decision in this regard.

Prior to the chairman’s retirement, a video has been circulating on social media in which Mehwish Hayat has a message for the accountability watchdog.

In her message, Mehwish said that only corruption-free countries are successful in the long run and NAB is doing a great job in controlling it so efficiently.

Mehwish remained hopeful that the bureau will continue its services to keep Pakistan corruption-free.

But her appreciation of NAB has been misinterpreted not only by internet users but political figures.

PPP leader Nabil Gabol mocked Mehwish Hayat by saying, “She will be the next chairman NAB”.

Other Twitter users also toed the line with PPP Leader and passed judgments.

Earlier, singer Ali Zafar was also lampooned by critics when he had commended the efforts of the anti-graft watchdog in curbing corruption in the country.
