After Qandeel Baloch, another model Sidra killed by her brother

After Qandeel Baloch, another model from Punjab namely Sidra, 22, was killed by her own brother in the name of honour when she went to Okara to celebrate the Eidul Fitr festival with family.

Police registered a case on the complaint of the victim’s mother and arrested the accused brother.

According to the police, the victim’s brother Hamza used to stop her from modelling. A day before the incident, there was a bitter argument between the two siblings in which the accused Hamza used his father’s pistol to murder Sidra.

The case was registered at City Renala Khurd police station on the complaint of the victim’s mother. Police arrested the accused and recovered the murder weapon.

Meanwhile, the police have completed a preliminary investigation into the Sidra murder case.

According to the police, the 22-year-old Sidra was residing in Faisalabad for studies and she was also secretly modelling there.

It came to Hamza’s knowledge 2.5 years later and he forbade Sidra from modelling, which led to bitter words between the two siblings. After the post-mortem, Sidra was laid to rest in a local cemetery of the village.

In the preliminary investigation, the accused has confessed to the crime. Police said that after receiving the post-mortem report, the accused will be produced in court for remand.

Former supermodel Frieha Altaf condemned the murder of model Sidra and termed her as another Qandeel Baloch.

She wrote on Twitter, “Stop this! Another #QandeelBalouch Sidra Khalid a 22 yr old graduate & model from Faisalabad allegedly shot & killed in Okara over Eid by brother Hamza in the name of honour! Police registered a case on behest of Sidrah’s mother.”
