Earlier, the British lawmaker for Leicester East called for the cancellation of Pakistan’s foreign debt after the devastating floods pushed the inflation rate to a 47-year-high.

She said on Twitter, “Inflation in Pakistan is at an all-time high at 27%! Pakistan’s international debt should be immediately cancelled — they should instead be given reparations for the climate crisis caused.”

Pakistan is going through a terrible situation in the aftermath of torrential rains and floods in several parts that caused massive loss of lives, properties and crops.
More than 33 million people were affected — one in every seven Pakistanis — and reconstruction work will cost more than $10 billion.
The UN chief Antonio Guterres called the Pakistan floods a ‘climate catastrophe’ and appealed for $160 million in emergency funding.
