Angna slap scene: Pakistani dramas keep glorifying violence against women

Angna slap scene, Pakistani dramas, violence against women

In the era of women empowerment when ‘She’ is rising in full strength in all walks of life, Pakistani dramas have continued glorifying violence against women by portraying them weak and helpless as it was illustrated in another drama, this time Angna.

In Angna’s one of the recent episodes one such scene was portrayed, the scene depicted that Eshaal’s [Rabab Hashim] was slapped in the face by her husband Zain [Ali Abbas] after her mother-in-law [Rubina Ashraf] objected over her dress.

It showed that Eshaal was stopped by the mother-in-law and objected to the dress style. To which, she tried to argue that she wore the dress of her husband’s choice. Rubina Ashraf looked onto her son, Zain, in an aggressive style for confirming what Eshaal says in front of her.

Zain retracted and suddenly slapped Eshaal without any reason just to prove her mother right.

This is not the first depiction of a slap scene like it was seen earlier in Khuda Aur Muhabbat, Laapata, Mere Paas Tum Ho, mere Harjaai and others to disgrace the women which need to be stopped in Pakistani dramas.

It is now becoming a norm to see the slap scenes mostly dedicated to the women instead of portraying healthy conversations between the family members.
