Battling Cancer, Naila Jafri Appeals Govt For ‘Royalty Pay’

The veteran performer has been ruling the screens of Pakistani entertainment industry since late 1990s

Pakistani versatile actress-fashion designer Naila Jafri, who has been fighting cancer for the last six years, left millions of fans shocked as she appealed to government to pay ‘royalty pay’ for her plays that have been screened multiple times.  

Since 1990s, Naila proved her skills in dramas including Woh, Mousam, and Lamha Lamha Zindagi, Maa Mujh ko Sulana, Desi Girls, and Thodi Si Khushiyan with her gratifying performances.

In a recent video, the 38-year-old cancer warrior shared her on-going experience.

She appealed to the government and policymakers to a design medical assistance program for the artists.

Naila added that in such difficult times, many fellow celebrities have supported her financially but even that did not prove sufficient as she missed her recent chemotherapy.

She pleaded with the authorities to issue ‘royalty pay’ for her plays that have been broadcasted repeatedly.

Moreover, cancer warrior Jaffri added that these little perks would play a vital role for all senior artists to defray their expenses.

Apart from cancer-warrior Naila Jafri, a number of veteran artists including Zeba Shehnaz and Ismail Tara also seek ‘royalty pay’ from the concerned authorities and they have voiced for it multiple times.

Soon after the video went viral, American Filmmaker Cynthia D. Ritchie wrote a little full-of-hopes note for the actress.

Moreover, journalist Mahwash Ajaz tweeted that the government of Pakistan should form a guild to protect their rights of royalties.

In addition to it, Naila followers questioned the showbiz fraternity that why they couldn’t help each other riding the storms when they could throw birthday parties, anniversary dinners, and arrange picnics.
