38-year-old actress fighting cancer for the last six years appealed government to grant 'Royalty Pay'

Several personalities of entertainment industry are applauding the initiative taken by PTI Senator Faisal Javed who will soon bring a bill to grant royalties for artists after veteran actress Naila Jafri’s requested it.

The 38-year-old actress has been fighting cancer for the last six years and appealed to the officials to grant ‘royalty pay’ for her plays that have been screened multiple times.

Taking notice of the appeal, Faisal Javed took to his Twitter handle and announced assistance to the veteran actress.

Most countries around the world give royalties /residuals to artists every time a show, their work is re-run, a 2nd time or more. However, sadly in Pak whr many artists are already underpaid, there is no policy or law ensuring that artists be given financial credit for their work

Therefore, it is very critical to fill the gaps & bring proper framework via amendments in legislation to ensure that our producers, artists get thr rights to royalties. Am in touch with all stakeholders & iA a comprehensive bill is being brought soon to address this v imp issue

Soon after her appeal, several celebrities including Junaid of Qarar Mikaal Zulfiqar came forward in support of Naila and the urge became a trend within a small time.

Apart from Mikaal Zulfiqar, other celebrities including Sakina Samo, Sami Khan, Zara Tareen, Ali Zafar, Yasir Hussain cheered the PTI senator for taking notice of the long-ignored issue.
