Dimple Kapadia Makes Hollywood Debut in “Tenet”
Despite being a renowned actress herself, Kapadia didn’t hide her fondness for Christopher Nolan
WEB DESK: Dimple Kapadia, renowned Bollywood actress, showed her fondness for Christopher Nolan. The quintessential actress, the famous “Bobby” of Bollywood, Dimple made her debut in “Tenet” in a significant role.
Despite being a renowned actress herself, Kapadia didn’t hide her feelings of nervousness upon receiving the call for an audition.
She admitted her fondness for the British-American producer, director, and screenwriter, Christopher Nolan, and confess that she went for an audition just to have a click with him.
Kapadia revealed that her acceptance for the role was just to grab the opportunity of working with the director, she absolutely adores.
When she got the call for an audition, she took it as a prank as she wasn’t expecting Nolan to choose her for a Hollywood film.
“I was told that Nolan is coming to India and was requested to do an audition for him. I went with Karan (her nephew) hoping to take a picture with Nolan”, she recalled.
She cleared her audition and was offered the role of “Priya” (an arms dealer) in the movie Tenent. Kapadia admitted that she was under a lot of “pressure” before the shoot.
“Honestly, I was under so much pressure of my own while doing it. I was so tensed that I couldn’t really appreciate or enjoy what was going on. If I think about it now, it was a beautiful dream for me,” she said.

It took her few hours to read and grasp the script although Nolan explained the role but it remained foreign to her.
From mainstream to the parallel cinema, Dimple Kapadia received acclaim for her performances in films as Kaash (1987), Drishti (1990), Lekin (1990), and Rudaali (1993), which earned her a National Film Award for Best Actress and a Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress.
Christopher Nolan is a well-acclaimed director and producer who has gone from low-budget independent films to working on some of the biggest blockbusters ever made including “Memento”, “Insomnia”, “Batman Begins”, “The Dark Knight”, and “Dunkirk”.
