The horrible practice of dowry which ekes out savings of girls’ parents has been highlighted from Nabeel Qureshi’s film Load Wedding to the latest bridal collection by Ali Xeeshan titled ‘Numaish’ showcased at Bridal Couture Week (BCW) 2021.
No matter what social class one belongs to, dowry is a tradition that is being passed down from one generation to the next in most sub-continent countries.
The designer, Ali Xeeshan, who is known for taking a stance on issues like dowry and child marriages, in the most artistic way possible, showcased his new collection at a recent BCW event in Lahore.

United Nations Women Pakistan, encouraged the idea to ‘stop the power of this evil’, using the hashtag #StopDowryMongering through their post on Facebook.
In contrast, Journalist, Mahwash Ajaz, tweeted that while the UN women campaign supported the collection of Ali Xeeshan against dowry, they should also prefer showing the film Load Wedding every six months and especially in the wedding seasons for the people, who have remained ignorant of the issue.

In reply to Mahwash’s tweet, Load Wedding producer, Nabeel Qureshi showed his appreciation for portraying the idea and quoted that the bill against dowry has been proposed in the assembly after the release of the movie.
