Famous Pakistan director Mehreen Jabbar has expressed her disappointment after her first web series, Ek Jhooti Love Story, stayed out of reach of Pakistani viewers.
The family comedy web series was released on the Indian OTT platform Zee5 Global last year, but due to the ban on Zee5 in Pakistan, Pakistani viewers are unable to watch the web series.
Mehreen Jabbar shared two excerpts of the web series on Instagram page. In the first scene, the main character Madiha Imam is shown as the bride of the mother and the women sitting around her are singing the traditional wedding song. The second scene shows Madiha Aziz’s parents being teased.

Mehreen Jabbar wrote in the caption of her post that it is unfortunate that this web series cannot be viewed legally in Pakistan even though it has deep roots here.

This family comedy web series was penned by renowned playwright and novelist Humaira Ahmed. Madiha Imam and Bilal Abbas are playing the lead roles in this web series.
Mehreen Jabbar had told Independent Urdu in an interview that this web series is a ‘social comedy’ and its theme is love and our relationship culture in the age of social media.
He said the series showed how families are pressured to marry their children, how unrealistic expectations are attached. This is a very interesting and contemporary story.
The web series, Ek Jhooti Love Story stars Bilal Abbas Khan Hina Khawaja Bayat and Madiha Imam in lead roles.
Storyline: Salma and Sohail live a simple life yet aim for the stars when it comes to a life partner. Both create artificial online accounts to find romance through their alter egos with their crushes Natalia and Nofil. Online Salma becomes Natalia and enjoys the attention she gets from Nofil, who is in-fact no other than Sohail’s fake profile. Both Salma and Sohail are living a lie when they find their real lives forever intertwined. But can they leave behind mistruth and find true love in each other?
