Harvey Weinstein To Pay $17 Million to 37 Abuse Survivors
In the year 2017, the former Hollywood producer was accused by more than a dozen women of sexual harassment and assaults
⁰The Academy Award-winning producer Harvey Weinstein has to pay $17 million to the 37 abuse survivors who accused the actor of sexual assaults as approved by a US bankruptcy judge.
The total sum of the whooping amount will be split between the 37 women who made the claims and each of them will likely receive a six-figure sum.
However, eight of the accusers have rejected the settlement and will be able to sue the Hollywood producer later.
Last year, after being convicted for the rape and sexual assault, Harvey Weinstein was sentenced to 23 years in prison and to pay the whopping amount to abuse survivors for settlement.

Harvey Weinstein is the co-founder of the entertainment company “Miramax” under which many successful movies were produced including Sex, Lies and Videotape, The Crying Game, Pulp Fiction, and Shakespeare in Love.
In the year 2017, the former Hollywood producer was accused by more than a dozen women of sexual harassment and assaults.
After that, Weinstein was expelled from his production company and was denounced by many prominent figures.
Harvey was arrested in 2018 by the police and is now serving 23 years in prison at Wendi Correctional Facility.
The Weinstein Company was declared bankruptcy in 2018 after the claims.
However, Lantern Capital bought the assets for $289 million.
The plan also allocates $9.7million to the former directors and officers which will allow them to pay some of their legal fees.

Whereas, some of the abuse survivor women with claims against Harvey Weinstein have maintained that the choice between a full payout or pursuing the case has been an unfair decision.
In the #MeToo case trial of Harvey, the women accusers have explained how the producer had used his power and influential status to abuse the women around him.
However, the interesting fact lies here is that none of those women dared to be vocal at the time of abuse and all of the accusations came when the fame for the Hollywood figure had declined.
