Has Bollywood’s Raksha Bandhan borrowed heavily from Lollywood’s Load Wedding?

Journalist Mahwash Ajaz has noticed that the upcoming Bollywood movie Raksha Bandhan starring Akshay Kumar seems to have borrowed heavily from director Nabeel Qureshi’s Load Wedding.

Mahwash Ajaz wrote on Twitter, “Akshay Kumar’s upcoming film seems to have ‘borrowed’ heavily from @nabeelqureshi’s #LoadWedding. Imitation is flattery? Because this isn’t the first time they’ve copied Nabeel’s work.”

“Previously Nabeel’s film #ActorInLaw’s famous “electricity case” was taken and plastered in Batti Gul Meter Chalu. Watch @fahadmustafa26 being brilliant in this sequence,”

She added, “This is for all the folks who consistently blame Pakistani filmmakers for being ‘inspired’ by Bollywood or copying Bollywood but clearly there’s some love that Bollywood also has for our storytellers that we don’t give our guys the credit for eh :)”

Earlier, the journalist opened up on the weaknesses of the Pakistani entertainment industry in a Twitter thread which were related to some actors and filmmakers.

Mahwash Ajaz wrote, “I can’t keep silent about this any longer. Azaan Sami Khan should not act. Please.”

Mahwash Ajaz added, “More opinions that might get me cancelled or probably will tick off many people. Esp stans. But someone’s got to do it. At the risk of getting ratioed to infinity here it goes.”

“Dur-e-Fishan Saleem is not believable as the darling heroine everyone wants to kidnap. Neither is Hiba Bukhari.”

She said, “Zaviyar Ejaz cannot act much either. Madiha Imam needs to stop doing Stockholm Syndrome based roles. Ahad Raza Mir cannot do comedy. Dum Mastam’s script needed work. Wajahat Rauf needs to invest in better filmmaking. Only Ahsan Rahim and Nabeel Qureshi can be trusted to make films.”
