I don’t consider drama actors as stars but film doers: Meera
“People of performing arts are worshiped in India, in Pakistan they are nothing. If I was not an actor, it would be a dictator.”

Meera, a well-known actress in the Pakistan film industry, said that she does not consider drama actors as showbiz stars but only film actors.
Drama actors should neither dictate the film stars nor teach them but they should learn from them, respect them and obey them.
The actress says that people of performing arts are worshiped in India, in Pakistan they have no name and sign. If she was not an actor, she would have been a dictator, she added.
While giving an interview to famous comedian and singer Ali Aftab Saeed, Meera was seen having a philosophical conversation with him.

When asked about the difference between the film industry of Pakistan and India, he said, “The biggest difference is that more films are made there, there is more professionalism. This matter has its place, but the shortest and the biggest difference is that performing arts people are worshipped in India but not in in Pakistan.
The host said that Indian artists are very much connected to their culture, they use heavy Hindi words in their conversation but she used English words in her conversations.
Meera said that “I am an Urdu artist first, I belong to Pakistan, I am a Pakistani and I am proud to be a Pakistani, I am an Urdu speaker, I am proud of my Urdu language, I read Urdu books, I am also learning Punjabi.”
“I think that despite working in so many films, my Punjabi is not good, I have done Pashto films, so if I am learning any language, I will continue to learn, if you ask me a question in Urdu, I will answer in Urdu. And if you ask me a question in English, I will answer in English.”
She said that she would like to be the ambassador of Pakistan and America, she will enter politics for the people of performing arts, but apart from that she has no intention to enter politics but because she is seeing the people of performing arts dying in Pakistan.
“People of performing arts have neither value nor respect in Pakistan. These people are very innocent and they don’t know how to earn money. They don’t know how to make gold and they don’t know how to build palaces. I would definitely join politics if I want to help these people.”
She said, “If I was not an actor, I would have been a dictator, a CEO or a director of a company. You should wear clothes that suit your personality and that are easy for you to wear. For me, that’s fashion, in which you stay calm, your mental state stays calm, you don’t get mental pressure.”
The actress said, “The stars of the film are the real stars, you can’t compete with them, you learn from them, respect them, don’t dictate to them, don’t teach them, you learn from them, respect them and respect them.”
“Television is a different medium, TV people are not stars, I don’t think of them as stars, they are actors who work but film people have a lot of knowledge and they know everything, filmmakers. They are the real stars.”
On a question about friends in the industry, Meera said, “When you work for an industry, a country or a cause, your cause is your friend and those who work for that cause are your friends.”
About the next film, she said, “My next film will come this year. I have taken a break from work myself, otherwise, I had many offers from India. Many directors from Karachi contacted me but I needed a break, so I took a break.”
