Farida Khanum has been affectionately called 'Queen of Ghazal' in Pakistan
It has always been said that music is the language of feelings and it has no boundaries and Indian journalist, Naila Habib, paid a singing tribute to the music maestro of Pakistan, Farida Khanum to manifest it.
Naila Habib can be seen singing one of Farida Khanum’s famous song ‘Yeh Ishq Jo Hum Say Rooth Gaya’ in the video the columnist shared on Twitter.

Farida Khanum, also known as Malika-e-Ghazal is a classical singer from Pakistan. She was born in the fall of 1929 in Calcutta.
Her family moved from Amritsar to Lahore in Pakistan when she was 18 years old.
She followed footsteps of her famous elder sister, singer Mukhtar Begum. Under the tutelage of the renowned Ustad Ashiq Ali Khan of Patiala Gharana, she learned khayal, thumri, and dadra.
Farida Khanum sang many songs and climbed the stairs of fame in a short span.
The ghazal ‘Yeh Ishq Jo Hum Say Rooth Gaya’ was released in the year 1988. The Indian columnist can be seen singing the same song in her video.
Another famous song that her name conjures out of the many beautiful pieces she produced is, ‘Aaj Jaane Ki Zidd Na Karo’ from the film Badal Aur Bijli (1973).
Farida Khanum has been affectionately called Queen of Ghazal in Pakistan.
She gave her first public concert in 1950 at the young age of 21 and then joined Radio Pakistan, where she gained recognition for herself.
She became a prominent singer when President Ayub Khan invited her to a public recital in the 1960s.
