In a tremendous move towards the revival of cinemas, Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry announced that films from Canada, Iran, and Turkey will be allowed to screen in Pakistan.
The minister was addressing the press conference about the cabinet meeting on Tuesday.
“فلمی صنعت اور سینما کی بحالی کیلئے علاقائی ممالک کی فلموں کی درآمد اور نمائش کی اجازت دے دی گئی ہے، کینیڈین پنجابی ،ایران اور ترکی کی فلمیں پاکستانی سینمائوں میں نمائش کیلئے پیش کی جائیں گی، سینما گھروں کو مراعات دے رہے ہیں”

The cinema industry in the country is in dire straits after the ban on the screening of Bollywood movies and the covid-19 pandemic has further aggravated the situation.

To bring the industry back to life, Fawad Chaudhry has announced that the government is considering the reopening of cinemas in Pakistan after a decline in coronavirus cases.
He also added that the film industry is right now in a devastating state and the decision of screening regional films has been taken in regards to this.
The announcement has come as a breath of fresh air for film enthusiasts in Pakistan.
The government banned the opening of cinemas as a precautionary measure to curb covid-19 and the nation has been eagerly waiting for the reopening.
