In recent days, a video of an interview with Noman Ijaz, a well-known actor in the Pakistani drama and film industry, has gone viral, in which he is heard speaking out against the payment issues in the media Industry.
Noman Ijaz said, “We artists work like donkeys, but when it comes to payments, the producers are reluctant.”
There is blackmailing and it is said that if there will be more discussion, it will be separated from the cast in the next play, he confessed.
The actor said, “One channel owes me Rs 50 million while another top channel of a media industry owes me about Rs 25 million. But when you ask for it, the matter is put on the back-burner.
Expressing anger at the media houses, Noman Ijaz said that the artists stand in front of the broadcaster with hands folded to receive their payments, and then a small chunk is given like a bone so that they (artists) become silent.
Noman Ijaz has started raising his voice against oppression.
Will his fellow artists be able to support him on this difficult path? It remains to be seen who will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Noman Ijaz or continue to silently bear what has been going on.
